Ethren / Backdrops & Events

Rentals

Built like furniture. Priced like a rental. Handled without the nervous edge.

These are not drapes and pipe. They are timber, jointed and finished so they can be lifted, set, photographed, and struck — then do it again next weekend without looking tired.

You get the real numbers before you pay: footprint on the floor, weight on the lift, how many hands and what power. Your venue team says yes with confidence, not a guess.

Scope & materials

What you actually rent — not just the face

A backdrop is not just the arch you see in the photo. It is the arch plus the feet that keep it standing on a ballroom carpet, the cases that keep edges sharp in the truck, the bolts you can find without a flashlight. That whole kit is what you rent.

  • Arches and paneled walls · freestanding on level floor, wall-anchored when the venue allows — we tell you which before you book
  • Plinths, risers, and display boxes · heights that relate to each other (14”, 28”, 36”, 42”) so a product sits where the eye lands
  • Modular wall sections and frames · 4’ and 8’ bays that clip to make 12’, 16’, or an L without a new build
  • Lighting and floor-grounded pieces · wired warm white where the piece needs it, not as an add-on you chase later
  • Every piece knocks down, nests, and ships with its own hardware and cases — no loose bag of bolts

Approach & execution

How the rental works in plain words

Tell us the venue, the floor, how you get in, and how long you need it to stand. One to four days is standard; longer when a retail window needs it. We reply with what actually fits the door, what it weighs on your lift, and what it costs — line by line, not a lump to decode.

A 50% deposit and a signed two-page agreement hold it. The other half seven days before load-in. Damage, late return, and what “clean return” means are in that agreement — not in a phone call after.

Approach & execution

Stands and essentials — always included

No one wants to discover on site that the wall has no feet. Every rental includes its stand, frame, or plinth base, plus leveling feet for the ballroom carpet you will find once, not twice. If it needs power, we note the draw. If it needs a wall, we note the anchor. Your venue team gets that sheet before you pay.

What is included. What is not.

Clear scope before work begins. Written in the proposal, not assumed on site.

Included

  • Piece as documented (sections, hardware, and cases)
  • Written spec sheet per piece (footprint, weight, crew, power)
  • Delivery/collection window and return condition noted in agreement
  • Optional Ethren setup and strike — 2-person crew, no specialized tools for most pieces

Not included / by others unless stated

  • Venue fees, permits, and insurance (Hirer responsibility; COI available)
  • Power, rigging, or anchoring beyond the piece spec
  • Loss or damage — replacement value documented with quote

At the venue

It lands, it fits, it photographs.

Two people, less than an hour, no mystery screws left over. That is the whole idea.

See it in rooms

Good to know before we start.

Direct answers. Full terms are documented in the written proposal.

How far ahead?

Two to four weeks is easy. Six to eight locks peak dates or a multi-piece build. Ask late anyway — we reply with what is actually free, not a script.

Can I touch it first?

Come to Stuart. Walk around it. Open the case. We will lay the spec sheet next to it so you see the footprint with your own feet.

If something scuffs?

Normal handling is on us — it is built for it. A real break is priced in the agreement you signed, not invented after. We check it together on return.
